We chatted to an Align Designer and Interior Renovations specialist, about a recent kitchen they designed in Camp Hill, Brisbane.

The Initial Phase

On my initial visit, I felt that the kitchen function could be improved with some modern solutions, and designed in a way that would speak to the older style of the home.

The owner of the home and I worked together to create something different that addressed both the look and the feel of the kitchen. They brought some great ideas to the table and were also open minded to suggestions, which made the design an expansive and flexible process.

The Design Process

Functionality is key to this design with cabinets that reach to the ceiling, providing generous storage solutions whilst also minimising clutter by eliminating the wasted, dust-collecting area you often have on top of the kitchen.

We were mindful to integrate the aesthetics of the design into the wider environment, speaking to the classic VJ walls and beautiful french doors opening out onto the wooden decking. We did this with shaker style cabinetry in Dulux Natural White and marble-look benchtops with Smartstone Bianco Onix.

The owner supplied the brass handles which were a striking complement to the design. I love to take into account the personal signature of each client, and to me, this completed the look. The kitchen now gives you that ‘WOW’ feeling when you walk in.
